Dublin Woman Dies From Electrocution Using Mobile Phone in Bath
A Dublin woman, Ann-Marie O'Gorman, aged 46, tragically died from electrocution while using her iPhone 16 in the bath. The incident occurred at her family home, leaving her husband Joe devastated.
The State Pathologist, Heidi Okkers, confirmed that Ann-Marie's cause of death was electrocution. This was due to a charging cable and iPhone 16 being used in the bath. The coroner, Dr Cróna Gallagher, ruled the death as a misadventure, highlighting the risk associated with this practice.
Joe O'Gorman believes his wife may have been in the bath during a brief call they had while he was driving home. He discovered her unresponsive in their bathroom. Consultant forensic engineer Paul Collins investigated the case and found no fault with the iPhone 16, charger, or cable. However, he advised against taking mobile phones into bathrooms to prevent such tragedies.
Ann-Marie O'Gorman, who was otherwise fit and healthy despite suffering from a blood clotting condition and Graves' disease, leaves behind a grieving family. The coroner offered her condolences to the family, reminding everyone of the potential dangers of using electronic devices in bathrooms.
