Disruptions at Mumbai Airport due to data network failure, causing delays for Air India and various other airlines.
Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport faced a data network outage on Saturday, 9th August 2025, causing disruptions in completing flight check-ins and flight operations.
The outage, due to a third-party data network failure, lasted around an hour and primarily affected airlines such as Air India. The incident happened during the peak travel season for the Raksha Bandhan festival, contributing to increased passenger traffic and congestion at the airport.
In response, the airport activated contingency measures and operated in manual mode to minimise disruptions. Despite the systems now being restored, some flights may still experience delays as the operations gradually normalise. Passengers are advised to check their flight status before travelling to the airport.
Air India, one of the affected airlines, issued an advisory regarding the situation at Mumbai airport. Although the outage has been resolved, some of Air India's flights continue to be affected. The airport and airlines are working diligently to ease passenger movement and stabilise flight operations.
