Discussion of AI applications held at INNOPROM-2025 by Sverdlovsk business magnates

In a significant gathering at the International Industrial Exhibition Innoprom, key figures from various sectors came together to discuss the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a tool for expanding professionals' capabilities. The meeting, chaired by Dmitry Mramorov, Chairman of the Board of Directors at SKB Kontur, was moderated by Maria Kartuz.

Alexei Kirpichnikov, Head of Development at SKB Kontur, highlighted the importance of AI in today's job market, stating that it helps people expand their capabilities and is now a necessary minimum for job seekers to be competitive. Dmitry Lukoshkov, Director of the Ekaterinburgg branch of "Rostelecom", views artificial intelligence as a "digital assistant" for professionals across various fields.

Larisa Redkina, Head of Digital Transformation Projects at EVRAZ, shared the company's experience in implementing AI technologies. She revealed that half of all IT projects (50 out of 100) now involve the use of AI technologies. EVRAZ began actively developing the AI direction five years ago, demonstrating the success of their chosen digitalization strategy.

Eugene Baklushin, Executive Director of UDV Group, emphasized the importance of developing proprietary AI solutions within companies, controlled directly by the business, rather than relying on external AI systems. He also stated that while AI cannot fully replace human labor, it can significantly speed up decision-making processes and free up specialists for more complex tasks.

The discussion also touched upon the issue of "hallucinations" in artificial intelligence, with Nikolai Domukhovskiy, Deputy CEO for Scientific and Technical Work and Director of the Analytical Center of UTSK, likening its operation to the human brain during sleep. He also pointed out that a large language model's knowledge comes solely from the internet, making its worldview incomplete or distorted, and lacking the ability for critical thinking.

In the field of medicine, AI could be applied similarly to enhance healthcare services and patient outcomes, with AI tools capable of analyzing large medical datasets, helping in disease research and treatment development. In the transportation sector, AI could be used to streamline transportation networks and improve efficiency, while autonomous vehicles could be a future direction for Russia's transportation sector.

In the industry sector, AI could optimize manufacturing processes, improve quality control, and enhance supply chain management. Russia is also centralizing control over its military-industrial sector, which could involve integrating AI for more efficient production and innovation.

SKB Kontur has recently implemented several AI tools to optimize internal processes, as demonstrated by Alexei Kirpichnikov using the video conferencing service Kontur. Talk, which features advanced technologies like a noise-cancellation system and AI algorithms that automatically generate meeting minutes.

Dmitry Mramorov noted that significant changes have occurred in the field of AI since the topic was discussed a year ago. He believes that AI will be beneficial to humanity and that fears about it causing people to stop thinking will be overcome.

In summary, while specific Russian applications might differ, AI is generally used to enhance productivity, innovation, and efficiency across these sectors. The discussion at the Digital and Information Technology Commission meeting underscored the growing importance of AI in various industries and the need for continued exploration and development in this area.

Technology and artificial-intelligence were main topics of discussion at the Digital and Information Technology Commission meeting chaired by Dmitry Mramorov. Alexei Kirpichnikov, Head of Development at SKB Kontur, emphasized that AI is now a necessary minimum for job seekers to be competitive, while Dmitry Lukoshkov views artificial intelligence as a "digital assistant" for professionals.
