Discussion at a Circular Gathering
The Roundtable Metaverse event, held recently, brought together a diverse group of industry leaders to discuss and explore the potential of the Metaverse. At the heart of the discussions were several core technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), and Blockchain.
One of the key use cases being deliberated was the Industrial Metaverse, which could revolutionise industrial processes by integrating digital and physical worlds. The Enterprise/Corporate Metaverse was also a topic of interest, with potential for transforming corporate environments and interactions. On the consumer side, the Consumer Metaverse was discussed, offering possibilities for immersive entertainment and social experiences.
The Metaverse section of the Bitkom initiative was well-represented at the event, with key players such as Unity, Mastercard, NVIDIA, Meta, and Solana Superteam participating. However, some of the main actors were startups and companies involved in Web3, Blockchain, AI, VR/AR & Metaverse technologies, like XDC Network and World of Women, who are not part of the Bitkom network. These companies were highlighted at the 2025 CONF3RENCE event in Dortmund.
The Web3 Foundation, another significant player, was also present, showcasing their work in creating a decentralised internet that could power the Metaverse. Mastercard, with its expertise in digital payments, and NVIDIA, known for its graphics processing units, are expected to play crucial roles in bringing the Metaverse to life. Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is also actively involved, with its focus on virtual and augmented reality technologies.
As the Metaverse continues to evolve, events like the Roundtable Metaverse will undoubtedly play a vital role in shaping its future. With the combined efforts of these industry leaders, we may soon see the Metaverse become an integral part of our daily lives.
