In the world of technology, Apple has recently announced its latest addition to the iPhone family – the iPhone 17 lineup and the iPhone Air. These new devices are now available for purchase, and if you're planning to upgrade, there are a few things you should consider before handing over your old iPhone.

Firstly, it's essential to remember that the Activation Lock feature on your iPhone helps prevent others from using a stolen device. However, it could also pose a problem if you're giving your former iPhone 14 or iPhone 13 to a friend. To avoid this issue, Apple suggests turning off Find My on your old iPhone before upgrading.

Disabling Find My on an iPhone automatically turns off the Activation Lock feature. To do this, navigate to Settings > [your name] > Find My > Find My iPhone and toggle off. You might need to enter your Passcode to continue the process.

However, if you want to hand over your iPhone to a friend without disabling Find My, you can disable Stolen Device Protection first. To do this, go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode, enter your device passcode, tap Stolen Device Protection, and turn it off. Remember, you must disable Stolen Device Protection before turning off Find My because Find My cannot be turned off while Stolen Device Protection is enabled.

Before giving away your iPhone, it's crucial to remove all personal information and factory reset your device. This step ensures that your personal information is not left on the device. After factory resetting, your iPhone will be ready for the new owner.

The Find My app, apart from preventing unauthorised use, can also help locate your luggage, AirPods, and track devices. However, it can also be turned off if needed.

Lastly, don't forget that the new iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone Air are available for purchase. If you're looking to upgrade, now might be the perfect time to get your hands on the latest iPhone 17 or iPhone 16!
