According to Health Minister Pankaj Singh, the HMIS will be a modernized platform that adheres to contemporary technology and cybersecurity standards, providing a seamless interface for both healthcare providers and beneficiaries. It will streamline healthcare services, minimize errors, and ensure a patient-centric approach toward care.
Singh revealed that the system would entail a centralized healthcare control room, equipped with a robust dashboard to monitor real-time data like bed availability, medicine stocks, diagnostic trends, and resource utilization. The HMIS will also provide centralized alerts, generating actionable insights to optimize decision-making and governance within the healthcare sector.
The minister emphasized the creation of a single digital health platform, where comprehensive information from primary health centers to super-speciality hospitals can be monitored through a unified dashboard. This digital transformation is expected to integrate with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
Integration with the ABDM means the HMIS will utilize digital tools for patient registration, appointments, billing, diagnostics, ward management, and more, allowing citizens to access prescriptions, lab reports, and discharge summaries through mobile apps and WhatsApp.
The system will also allow consent-based digital sharing of health records using ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) IDs, ensuring privacy and interoperability among healthcare providers. To further boost efficiency, the Health Department plans to integrate voice-to-text transcription for prescriptions, performance analytics for doctors, and data on medicine usage and diagnostic load.
