Dreame Technology, the Chinese tech company known for its smart hardware, is venturing into the automotive industry with its new luxury electric vehicle (EV) brand, Starry Sky Auto. The company's founder has set ambitious requirements for Starry Sky Auto's models, aiming for a domineering and tough appearance that surpasses the Li Auto L9 and M9, and matches or exceeds the dimensions of the Rolls Royce Cullinan.

A recently released rendering of Starry Sky Auto's EV, codenamed "Dreame Bugatti," showcases a unique design. The rear doors open upward like those of a McLaren, and there's no B-pillar. The rendering also reveals two vents in the hood, one behind each headlight, and a grille that resembles Jaguar's, slightly broader and less rounded.

The Dreame Bugatti is a four-door sedan, set to be unveiled in concept form at CES in Las Vegas in January 2023. A pre-production prototype of the EV will also be displayed at the event. Dreame Technology is splitting its car operations into two divisions: Dreame Auto, which is focused on building the Dreame Bugatti, and Starry Sky Auto, which will develop other premium models.

Starry Sky Auto's models are expected to range in price from $38,000 to $83,000, making them more affordable than Bentley and Rolls Royce. The company has assembled a cross-industry team for research and development, manufacturing, and quality control, including experts from traditional vehicle manufacturing.

In addition to the Dreame Bugatti, Starry Sky Auto is benchmarking cars such as the Rolls Royce Cullinan and various Bentley models for the development of four vehicles built from the same basic components. The wheelbase of these premium models will be 3.2 meters (126 inches) and 3.3 meters (130 inches) long.

Dreame Auto's ambition is to replicate Xiaomi's expansion from electronics giant to automaker. However, the production timeline for Starry Sky Auto models is not currently provided. The EV will be produced in 2027 at a site next to Tesla's Gigafactory in Berlin.

Weixin, a news source, claims to have spoken to a company insider who provided information about the production timeline and powertrain options of the EV. Both pure EV and range-extender hybrid versions will be offered when the finished car enters production.

It's worth noting that Dreame Technology's car division did not receive a comment from Advance Auto or AutoTrader when asked about the new rendering last week. The company is also developing a second luxury brand that aims to rival Bentley and Rolls-Royce, but technical details about this brand are not provided at this time.

As Dreame Technology forges ahead with its automotive ambitions, the industry eagerly awaits the unveiling of the Dreame Bugatti and future models from Starry Sky Auto.
