Data analytics and risk management firm LexisNexis has revealed a cyberattack that led to the unauthorized access and subsequent theft of data involving 364,333 individuals. In a notification letter addressed to those affected, the company disclosed an unidentified third party gained entry into a third-party software development platform and stole the data.

According to LexisNexis, sensitive personal information, financial data, and credit card information were not stolen. Furthermore, the organization's infrastructure, systems, and products remain untouched by the cyber intrusion.

The leaked data included names, phone numbers, email addresses, home addresses, Social Security numbers, and driver's license details, which has sparked concern among affected individuals. If concerned parties wish to safeguard their personal data, they may consider the top-rated identity theft monitoring services available.

Some critics are expressing dissatisfaction with LexisNexis' response timeline. According to Dr. Ilia Kolochenko, CEO of ImmuniWeb, the timeline of the incident detection and disclosure is surprising for a company offering comparatively sensitive services, as the breach was detected in April 2025, disclosed in May 2025, and the initial attack is reported to have occurred in December 2024. It is worth noting that a class action lawsuit investigation was already underway by May 28, 2025.

LexisNexis is not alone in experiencing such breaches, as firms like Co-op and Marks & Spencers have also faced similar challenges.
