Customized Bugatti Brouillard unveils its final W16 masterpiece
Bugatti's Solitaire Division Unveils the Brouillard: A Unique Hypercar
Bugatti's latest venture, the Solitaire coachbuilding division, has revealed its first creation - the Brouillard, a one-of-a-kind hypercar based on the Mistral speedster. This new division is dedicated to crafting bespoke, ultra-exclusive vehicles, reviving the historical practice of coachbuilding.
The Brouillard showcases the capabilities of the Solitaire division in catering to customer demand for individuality. Unlike Bugatti's Sur Mesure personalization program, which focuses on customizing existing production cars, Solitaire is all about creating fully redesigned, one-off coachbuilt bodies on existing Bugatti chassis and powertrains.
The Brouillard is a testament to this approach. With no panel being the same as on the Mistral, the Brouillard is unique in its design. It features a fixed glass roof instead of the open top of the Mistral, adding a distinctive touch to this custom hypercar.
The Solitaire division, based in Berlin, will focus on producing around two unique cars per year. These creations will be fully custom-made, offering geometrically unique cars that draw heavily on Bugatti's heritage and design cues from classic models like the Type 57SC Atlantic.
High demand from Bugatti's wealthiest customers for even greater individuality in their cars has led to the creation of the Brouillard. The last new standalone Bugatti model to use the W16 engine is the Brouillard, making it a significant addition to Bugatti's lineup.
In the future, Bugatti will start using the Tourbillon, a plug-in hybrid powertrain, for its creations. The Tourbillon's powertrain, centred around a Cosworth-designed V16, promises an incredible performance. The Brouillard, with its 1775bhp powertrain, is set to be the most expensive car ever built by Bugatti.
The Brouillard is due to be delivered in 2027, marking a new era in Bugatti's coachbuilding history. It's clear that the Solitaire division is set to redefine the hypercar industry with its focus on exclusivity and personalization.
It's worth noting that Bugatti is discontinuing the W16 engine after two decades. The Brouillard, therefore, represents the end of an era for Bugatti, as it moves towards a new chapter in its history.
