Company in Sigmaringen District Loses $100K in Crypto Scam

A company in the Sigmaringen district has fallen victim to a sophisticated crypto scam, losing over 100,000 USD in mid-July 2025. The perpetrators, operating internationally, remain at large.

The fraudsters posed as mediators for a Swiss investor in a multi-million dollar project, convincing the company to transfer a six-figure sum in cryptocurrency. Investigators from Friedrichshafen Criminal Police and Hechingen Public Prosecutor's Office have since recovered the lost funds, amounting to over 100,000 USD, on a crypto exchange.

Ravensburg Police Headquarters warns of highly professional criminals targeting larger companies. They may claim that payments in cryptocurrency are commonplace. The suspects are described as two men, one around 175 cm tall with neck tattoos, and another approximately 40 years old, with a Western European appearance, short dark brown hair, wearing a dark jacket and gloves, last seen riding a red bicycle in Munich's Nymphenburg area. Police seek witnesses who may have observed relevant activities in Zuccalistraße, Laimerstraße, and Hippmannstraße.

The Prevention Department of Ravensburg Police Headquarters is available as a criminal police advisory service. Anyone with information is urged to come forward. The investigation continues into the international structures behind this cryptocurrency fraud.
