The Ministry of Commerce & Industry's Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has joined forces with Ather Energy to accelerate the growth of India's clean mobility and advanced manufacturing sectors, with a particular focus on electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing and innovation.

Key aspects of this collaboration include:

1. The partnership will take place under the Build in Bharat initiative led by the Startup Policy Forum (SPF), a coalition of over 50 innovation-focused startups aiming to strengthen India’s manufacturing ecosystem.
2. Ather Energy and DPIIT will provide strategic mentorship and infrastructure support to deep-tech startups operating in the EV value chain, including battery technology, vehicle manufacturing, and clean energy solutions.
3. Joint innovation programs like the Bharat Startup Grand Challenge will be launched to promote innovation and identify breakthrough technologies in EV manufacturing and clean mobility.
4. Talent and skill development initiatives, such as co-hosting key events like Startup Mahakumbh and organizing on-ground exposure visits, will be implemented to foster networking, learning, and industry growth.
5. The collaboration aims to create an enabling environment for startups to contribute meaningfully to India’s sustainable transport goals and support the country’s commitment to a low-carbon future by driving domestic EV manufacturing and clean energy adoption.

Joint Secretary, DPIIT, Sanjiv Singh, stated that the electric mobility sector in India is entering a transformative phase, and this partnership will catalyze an ecosystem conducive to innovation, manufacturing excellence, and strengthening India’s position in the global EV market.
