City of Parkhouse initiates license plate identification system for digital parking management

Wiesbaden, Germany - Exciting changes are coming to the city's parking landscape as WiBau, Wiesbadener Baugesellschaft mbH, announces the digitalization of its parking facilities. The modernization process, set to begin with the City Parking Garage, will soon extend to other garages, including the Luisenplatz underground garage and the Mauritiusgalerie Parking Garage.

Starting on Monday, September 22, the Luisenplatz underground garage will undergo conversion to license plate recognition for digital parking. This transformation will be followed by the Luisenplatz underground garage's complete closure on Wednesday, September 24, during the conversion process. The City Parking Garage has already been converted, and the Mauritiusgalerie Parking Garage will be modernized by the end of October.

Andreas Guntrum, CEO of WiBau, believes that this new technology will make parking faster, more comfortable, and safer. The technology employs high-resolution cameras that capture only the license plate, which is used for entry and exit control and billing of the parking process. It is worth noting that all data transmitted is encrypted and automatically deleted in accordance with legal requirements, ensuring privacy and security.

No other vehicle or personal data is stored by the new technology. This means that citizens can enjoy the benefits of digital parking without worrying about their personal information being compromised.

Andreas Kowol, chairman of the supervisory board of WiBau and head of the traffic department, is pleased with the advancement of digitalization in Wiesbaden's parking. He views this as a modern solution for citizens, making parking more efficient and convenient.

Upon entry and exit, the license plate is automatically detected, and the barrier opens for ticketless parking. Andreas Guntrum expects some fine-tuning in the initial phase of the license plate recognition implementation, but he is confident that the benefits will be immediately noticeable.

License plate recognition is set to become the new standard in all municipal parking garages managed by WiBau. This digitalization of parking is an important step towards efficient parking space management in Wiesbaden, and the company looks forward to announcing the exact time for the Mauritiusgalerie Parking Garage modernization in good time. The digitalization of parking in Wiesbaden is seen as a significant stride towards a more modern and efficient city.
