China's NEV Sales Surge 9% in First 27 Days of September

China's passenger NEV retail sales surged in the first 27 days of September, with a 9% year-on-year increase to 1.039 million units. This marked a 17% rise from the previous month. Meanwhile, the year-to-date cumulative sales of all passenger vehicles reached 16.54 million units, an 8% increase compared to the same period last year.

The total passenger vehicle retail sales in China from September 1 to 27 remained flat year-on-year at 1.776 million units. However, this figure showed a 12% increase month-on-month. Wholesale sales of passenger vehicles also grew by 1% year-on-year and 16% month-on-month to 2.103 million units during the same period.

NEV retail penetration in China stood at 58.5% from September 1 to 27, and 52.1% year-to-date. Year-to-date cumulative sales of passenger NEVs reached 8.61 million units, indicating a 24% increase year-on-year. Passenger NEV wholesale sales from September 1-27 totaled 1.154 million units, with a 12% year-on-year and 21% month-on-month increase. Cumulative passenger NEV wholesale sales year-to-date reached 10.1 million units, up 31% year-on-year.

These figures reflect the growing demand and adoption of new energy vehicles in China. The market leader in NEV registrations from September 26 to October 2, 2021, was BYD, demonstrating the company's strong presence in the Chinese NEV market.
