ChatGPT's Daily Life Impact: New Study Reveals User Demographics and Trends
OpenAI has released a comprehensive study on ChatGPT's usage, revealing insights into how the AI is integrated into daily life. The study, based on 1.5 million users' chat logs from May 2024 to June 2025, shows that non-professional topics dominate conversations, with 73% of chats falling into this category.
The report highlights that females make up the majority of users, with 52% having typically female names. Private individuals drive most usage, with 70% of interactions focused on everyday tasks like seeking practical guidance (28.3%), creating or optimizing text (28.1%), and searching for information (21.3%). Work-related use accounts for 30%, with businesses employing ChatGPT for content creation, customer support, and coding assistance.
Interestingly, queries for purchasable products make up only 2.1% of information-seeking chats. ChatGPT currently handles around 18 billion requests weekly, with young people aged 18 to 25 accounting for nearly half of these interactions. The AI has seen rapid growth, now serving around 700 million weekly users, equivalent to about ten percent of the world's adult population. Notably, usage is growing faster in poorer countries than in wealthy regions.
The study underscores ChatGPT's significant impact on daily life, with non-professional users and young adults driving its growth. As it continues to evolve, understanding its usage patterns will be crucial for shaping its future development and integration into society.
