University of Texas Enhances Sports Production with Riedel Communications Solution

The University of Texas (UT) has upgraded its sports communication and production system with a Riedel Communications solution, designed to deliver clear communications and streamlined production across its athletics facilities.

The new system, which includes Riedel's Artist digital matrix intercom, Bolero wireless intercom, and Simplylive Production Suite, has been instrumental in providing seamless, clear communication throughout the arena and other UT venues.

Matt Alvarado, head broadcast engineer at UT, highlighted the importance of a system that could reach every corner of the university's venues and campus. He noted that the Bolero and Artist systems from Riedel have met this requirement, offering a significant improvement over the previous system.

The Simplylive Production Suite, a key component of the Riedel solution, does not require a control room for operation. This feature, combined with its ease of use and professional-grade replay capabilities, has been a gamechanger for UT students who are now able to deliver top-tier sports coverage.

The system's scalability and flexibility have been particularly beneficial, allowing it to adapt to different sports venues and production scales. This adaptability has enhanced operational efficiency, enabling UT to manage multiple sports productions efficiently.

The clarity and ease of use of the Riedel systems have been particularly appreciated when working with student crews. The system's robustness and reliability have also been crucial, minimizing downtime risk, which is critical for live sports broadcast and venue operations.

The Bolero system has been extended to UT's football stadium, creating an integrated communication network across its athletics facilities. The installation was completed by SCN Top 50 systems integrator Diversified.

With the transition to the Southeastern Conference (SEC) on the horizon, UT is working to elevate its production standards for professional-grade sports coverage. The Riedel solution is expected to play a significant role in this endeavour, enabling efficient operations for multiple sports productions.

Alvarado praised the Simplylive Production Suite for its ability to deliver exceptional productions, stating that it has been a key component in UT's efforts to improve its sports coverage. The efficiency of the Simplylive Production Suite has been critical, allowing staff and students to move between venues while maintaining connectivity.

Riedel Communications is widely recognized in professional broadcast and live event production for offering these benefits, making it a trusted solution in high-demand sports environments. The deployment at UT is expected to further solidify Riedel's position as a leader in the field.

The University of Texas (UT) has utilized the features of Riedel Communications' technology to enhance its sports communication and production system, accentuating the clarity and ease of use in their operations, particularly with student crews. By employing systems such as the Artist digital matrix intercom, Bolero wireless intercom, and Simplylive Production Suite, UT students can now deliver top-tier sports coverage efficiently and adaptably across various sports venues, with the Scalability and Flexibility of the Riedel solution boosting operational efficiency in managing multiple sports productions.
