BYD Delivers 1000th BYD Tang SUV to Norway

In 2021, the electric vehicle (EV) landscape in Norway witnessed a significant shift with the arrival of the BYD Tang SUV. This Chinese-made electric vehicle marked BYD's entry into the Norwegian market, following the company's announcement the previous year.

The initial batch of 100 BYD Tang EVs, equipped with the Blade battery, was sent to Norway in June 2021, marking BYD's first steps in the Nordic EV market. This launch helped establish BYD's presence in Norway's rapidly growing EV market, which is among the world's most advanced in electric vehicle adoption.

Priced from approximately 699,900 Norwegian kroner (about $69,300) at market debut, the BYD Tang SUV offers a range of 528km (WLTP City) and 400km (WLTP combined). The vehicle can accelerate from 0-100km/h in under 4.6 seconds, and it can be rapidly charged from 30% to 80% battery capacity within 30 minutes using a 110 kW DC charger.

Moreover, the Tang SUV comes with an 8-year / 160,000km extended battery warranty, providing peace of mind for consumers. BYD now has more than 43 dealers in various parts of Norway, providing sales, aftersales, parts, and service support.

Following the initial deliveries in 2021, BYD has continued to grow its sales in Norway, with increasing monthly registrations since then, reaching hundreds of vehicles per month by 2025. While precise 2021 total sales numbers for the BYD Tang specifically are not detailed, the initial batch of 100 vehicles and subsequent deliveries laid the foundation for BYD’s expanding success in Norway's EV market.

Other Chinese EV brands have also made their way to Norway. NIO, for instance, shipped 100 ES8 to Norway, and Xpeng exported 100 G3 and P7 to the European markets. The RSA, BYD's largest dealer in Norway, has been instrumental in this growth, providing comprehensive support to customers.

As the electric vehicle market continues to expand, it's clear that Norway will remain a key market for Chinese EV brands. With their competitive pricing, extended warranties, and impressive performance, these brands are set to make a lasting impact on Norway's EV landscape.
