British automaker Norton Motorcycles displays its future models to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his UK counterpart, Prime Minister Kier Starmer.
Norton Motorcycles, under the ownership of TVS Motor Company, is gearing up for an exciting comeback with the launch of four new motorcycle models by summer 2026. These new offerings aim to diversify the brand's portfolio and expand its presence in emerging markets.
The strategic expansion includes two entirely new platforms targeting different market segments:
- A 300-400 cc platform, designed primarily for emerging markets such as India and other developing regions, offering affordable, modern-classic motorcycles.
- A 600-650 cc middleweight platform, positioned as a premium global offering to compete with brands like Royal Enfield and Triumph in the mid-capacity segment.
The 300-400 cc bikes will help Norton enter highly competitive markets, while the 600-650 cc models will target riders seeking premium performance and style within the middleweight category.
Recent trademark registrations hint at new model lineups connected to the "Electra" and "Combat" nameplates. The brand is yet to reveal specific details about these models, but it is expected that more information will be unveiled near the EICMA 2025 show in Milan, Italy, and in the following months.
The 600-650 cc middleweight platform will be the brand's premium offering, while the current lineup of Norton motorcycles consists of three models: Commando 961, V4SV, and V4CR, all built at Norton's Solihull factory in the UK.
TVS Motor Company acquired Norton Motorcycles for ₹153 crore and has invested ₹1,000 crore in the brand for its turnaround and improvement of the current range of motorcycles. In 2025, TVS will bring Norton's premium motorcycles to India as CBUs.
The collaboration between Norton and TVS aims to target the middleweight segment, which has been a focus for TVS in recent years with offerings like the Apache RTR 200 4V and the BMW G 310 R.
The upcoming motorcycle from Norton, expected to be the next-gen Norton V4SV, is set to make its global debut at the EICMA 2025 show in Milan, Italy. The brand is also planning to launch six new bikes in India by 2027.
Norton Motorcycles is aiming to diversify its portfolio in emerging markets with its upcoming range, joining the competition against established brands like Royal Enfield and Triumph. It is worth noting that the "Electra" nameplate was previously associated with the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 as a variant.
This renewed global rollout is set to begin at the end of FY 2025-26 (summer 2026), with an emphasis on the UK, India, and Europe first. The launches showcase Norton's comeback plan leveraging TVS's investments, aiming for a global distribution.
