Brendon Small, the creative force behind the animated metal band Dethklok and the show Metalocalypse, is set to sell a collection of his unique and rare metal guitars on Reverb. The official Brendon Small of Dethklok Reverb Shop will go live on July 30, offering fans and collectors the opportunity to own a piece of music history.

Among the items up for grabs is the fretless Ibanez Iceman, which Small describes as extremely rare, likening its availability to finding it in a dump site or under a city in a trashy place. This guitar, originally used for the Metalocalypse theme song, has been modified by Small's brother, who removed the frets, making it a truly one-of-a-kind instrument.

Another unique option is the Gibson Thunderhorse, a Silverburst Explorer variant, limited to 250 units worldwide. Small praises this guitar for its versatility, suitable for playing classic rock 'n' roll, from Cannibal Corpse to Steely Dan. The Gibson Thunderhorse in the collection is in pristine condition, with the cellophane still on the pickguard.

Epiphone Signature Prototypes are also part of the sale, including a matte black prototype from around 2007 and a unique Dethklok Explorer with a special inlay on the fingerboard. Other guitars in the collection include Small's first-ever Les Paul and his second-ever guitar, used during The Dethalbum recording, as well as a Joan Jett Melody Maker used on tour with Mastodon and Dethklok in 2009.

A Flying V, played at early comedy shows and featured on Metalocalypse demos, is also included in the sale. Some of these instruments, like the modified Ibanez Iceman, are one-of-a-kind, having been used in battle, scoring Metalocalypse, and during live performances with Mastodon.

Two prototype guitars are part of Small's Reverb shop collection: a Dethklok Explorer with a unique fingerboard inlay and a hot-rodded Explorer named the GhostHorse, featuring a Floyd Rose and a figured maple top/veneer. The middle position of Small's Gibson E2 Explorer provides out-of-phase weirdness due to a mod that creates a Brian May-like phase-reversing effect.

Interested parties can preview the collection and sign up for alerts at Reverb. This sale comes after a studio break-in prompted Small to reassess his collection and part with instruments he no longer plays regularly. The focus of the sale is on the unique and rare instruments associated with Metalocalypse and Dethklok, although there are more mainstream options available as well.

Gadget enthusiasts and technology aficionados alike will find excitement in the upcoming collection of Brendon Small's unique metal guitars, as the variety of instruments on sale offer a blend of entertainment and music history. Among these unique gadgets is the fretless Ibanez Iceman, a one-of-a-kind guitar used for the Metalocalypse theme song and modified by Small's brother, capable of creating unparalleled music that spans genres from heavy metal to classic rock 'n' roll.
