Boris FX Introduces Advanced AI Features for Visual Effects Professionals and Content Developers
The latest release of the visual effects plugin, Continuum, from Boris FX, is packed with new creative tools that leverage machine learning technology. This update, version 2024.5, aims to enhance visual effects workflows by offering more advanced and intelligent capabilities.
In the Key & Blend category, users will find a suite of tools designed for easier green screen clean-up. These include BCC+ Edge Cleaner, BCC+ Light Wrap, BCC+ Linear Luma Key, and BCC+ Spill Remover.
Particle Illusion, another category in Continuum 2024.5, offers improved functionality with new position path presets, the ability to replace an emitter after creating a complex animation, and a parameter search function.
The Transitions category has been expanded with the addition of BCC+ Mosaic Dissolve.
One of the standout features of this release is the BCC+ Witness Protection ML tool. This innovative feature automatically identifies and isolates human faces in a scene, offering four ways to hide an identity.
The Stylize category now includes BCC+ Mosaic, adding to the array of creative effects available.
BCC+ Color Link, a new feature, allows users to add grades to clips by linking colour from one layer to another.
The BCC+ Denoiser ML tool, the first machine learning-powered tool in Continuum, has been updated with newly trained models for faster render performances and improved coverage of various types of footage.
In addition to these four machine learning-based effects, Continuum 2024.5 includes eight new creative effects, updates to its fast 2D/3D particle generator, faster playback in the FX Editor, and a host-side compare option when applying BCC+ effects.
Continuum 2024.5 is available as a plugin with various pricing options, including monthly/annual subscriptions, upgrade & support plans, and permanent licenses. The plugin is compatible with a range of host applications, including Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, Foundry Nuke, Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve, and VEGAS Pro.
Boris Yamnitsky, president and founder of Boris FX, stated that the release doubles down on the company's ML strategy, positioning Continuum as a leader in machine learning-powered visual effects.
In the context of the new update, Continuum 2024.5, not only does it offer advanced creative tools such as BCC+ Edge Cleaner and Particle Illusion, but it also incorporates machine learning technology, showcasing the BCC+ Witness Protection ML tool for automated face identification and the BCC+ Denoiser ML tool for faster render performances.
