BMW's upcoming iX3 model spotted sporting a fresh M steering wheel in recent photographs.
The BMW iX3, arriving on German roads in January 2026, is generating buzz with its innovative design changes, particularly in the cabin. One of the most noticeable alterations is the new steering wheel, now sporting an M logo at its center.
The silver metallic spokes of the new steering wheel have been repositioned to the 4 and 7 o'clock positions, providing a sleek and modern look. For those seeking a more personalized experience, BMW offers two additional steering wheel choices as part of the M Sport Package. One of these options comes with a revised layout and costs an extra €100.
For those who prefer a more traditional look, a black version of the steering wheel is also available. However, for those who want to make a statement, the much-anticipated 'Digital White' wheel, an Individual option for the BMW iX3, will be available from January 2026 onwards.
The iX3 will be painted in Space Silver, and the interior will be finished in Castanea Brown. The M Sport Package, which increases the starting price of the BMW iX3 from €68,900 to €72,700 in Germany, includes M sports seats and the M multifunction steering wheel as standard.
The driver-assistance controls are located on the left side of the new steering wheel, while infotainment and phone controls are found on the right. The quirky steering wheel first seen on the Vision Neue Klasse concepts is still present in the iX3, adding a touch of uniqueness to the vehicle's interior.
Wheel size plays a significant role in the efficiency of an electric vehicle, as it affects range. The iX3 features the largest wheels available, which are 22 inches. While smaller wheels generally help maximize range, the aerodynamic design of the iX3 ensures efficient performance.
BMW takes design risks, as the 2026 iX3 looks nothing like its predecessor. The new steering wheel layout is more appealing than the flashy one shown in press shots, and the overall design change in the interior is a welcome improvement.
However, keeping a white steering wheel clean over the years can be challenging, so potential buyers may want to consider this before opting for the 'Digital White' wheel. Nonetheless, the BMW iX3 with its new steering wheel design and M Sport Package options is set to redefine electric vehicle aesthetics.
