Audi introduces refreshed game modes and audio enhancements
Audi is set to revolutionise in-car entertainment with two exciting collaborations. The luxury car manufacturer is partnering with AirConsole, a cloud-based gaming platform, and Dolby Laboratories to create a next-generation in-car entertainment ecosystem.
Starting from July, Audi will integrate AirConsole into some of its vehicles, transforming them into social gaming hubs. Passengers can now enjoy multiplayer video games during drives, with the car's infotainment system serving as the platform. The games, controlled by smartphones, range from skill-based games like the computer version of UNO to knowledge-based games such as "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?".
The collaboration with AirConsole aims to provide in-vehicle entertainment systems that offer a diverse range of games, enhancing the travel experience for passengers. To ensure the driver's safety and focus, the passenger display in Audi vehicles serves as the "hub" for the games, switching so that the driver cannot see the screen's contents.
In addition, Audi is collaborating with Dolby Laboratories to integrate Dolby Atmos immersive audio technology into select 2025 models. This collaboration will enhance the in-car audio experience with advanced 3D sound, providing a stronger, more three-dimensional spatial sound than other systems. From July, the first Audis will be delivered with the Dolby Atmos sound system, allowing music or podcasts to be played directly from integrated Audi apps such as Amazon Music, Audible, and Tidal.
The speakers for Audi, developed by the Danish entertainment company Bang & Olufsen, have been specifically adapted for the Dolby Atmos system. Details about the future collaboration between Audi and Dolby Laboratories are not yet specified.
It's worth noting that the integration of AirConsole is optional and can be requested by Audi customers. The specific models of Audi vehicles that will be equipped with AirConsole have not been mentioned.
This collaboration between Audi, AirConsole, and Dolby Laboratories is set to redefine the in-car entertainment landscape, combining immersive audio with cloud gaming, significantly enhancing passenger entertainment options in future Audi vehicles.
