The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a groundbreaking strategic plan that places artificial intelligence (AI) at the heart of transforming government services and resource management. Known as the UAE Federal Government Strategic Plan 2031, this initiative aims to make government operations more efficient, simplify procedures, and optimize resource allocation across federal government operations.
Sheikh Mohammad, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, expressed his vision for the future, stating, "The world is going through comprehensive restructuring, scientifically, economically, and socially, and our goal is to be ready today for the coming decades and to ensure continuing prosperity and a decent life for the following generations."
One of the key aspects of the plan is the integration of a National AI System, which will serve as an advisory member of the UAE Cabinet, starting in January next year. This system is designed to enable data-informed decision-making and intelligent governance.
The strategy also prioritizes AI to streamline government operations, creating faster, simpler, and more efficient public services for citizens and businesses. Advanced technology will be embedded into public services to redefine interactions between the government, people, and businesses, improving the overall service experience.
The new planning cycle involves 38 federal groups and brings together key public officials, including the directors of strategy, future planning, and finance. Sheikh Mohammad has directed teams across ministries and strategies to incorporate AI as part of the 'We the UAE 2031' vision.
