Apple's WWDC20 Unveils Powerful New Features for Developers

Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC20) brought a wealth of new features and APIs for developers. Highlights include Swift Package Manager's expanded support, PencilKit's Scribble, Sign in with Apple upgrades, AirPods Motion API, and more.

Swift Package Manager now supports resources and offers new open-source packages for Numerics, ArgumentParser, and System. PencilKit introduces Scribble, enabling text entry fields to work with Apple Pencil and access stroke data.

Developers can now upgrade existing third-party app accounts to Sign in with Apple accounts. AirPods Motion API provides real-time movement data access, opening up new app experiences. These APIs were developed by Apple to support new features introduced in iOS 14, iPadOS 14, macOS Big Sur, watchOS 7, and tvOS 14, alongside Xcode 12.0 which added frameworks like WidgetKit and App Clips.

TestFlight now accommodates up to 100 team members for faster build distribution. Core ML introduces tools for model deployment, encryption, and new templates in Create ML for easier machine learning development. ARKit 4 introduces a new Depth API, benefiting LiDAR sensor-based apps in fields like architecture, design, landscaping, and manufacturing.

WWDC20 has equipped developers with powerful tools and APIs to create innovative experiences across Apple's platforms. From Swift Package Manager's expanded support to ARKit 4's Depth API, these updates promise to enhance both development and user experiences.
