Apple Expands AirPlay 2, TV App; TV+ Launch Imminent
Apple has rolled out updates and new features for its users. AirPlay 2 support has reached Samsung smart TVs, while the Apple TV app has expanded its availability. Additionally, Apple TV+ is set to launch this fall.
Samsung smart TV users with AirPlay 2 can now directly play content from their iPhone, iPad, or Mac. This feature requires an update to iOS 12.3 or macOS 10.14.5.
The Apple TV app, which offers access to iTunes movies and TV shows, is now available in over 100 countries. It's compatible with iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV users running iOS 12.3 and tvOS 12.3.
Later this year, AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support will reach eligible VIZIO, LG, and Sony smart TVs.
Apple's expansion doesn't stop there. The Apple TV app is now accessible on all 2019 Samsung smart TVs and select 2018 models. Mac users also gained access to the app with the release of macOS Catalina on October 7, 2019.
Apple's ecosystem continues to grow with these updates. AirPlay 2 support on Samsung TVs and the expanded availability of the Apple TV app provide more viewing options for users. This fall, Apple TV+ will further enrich the user experience with Apple's original video content.
