Amazon's First Colored E-book Reader, Kindle Colorsoft, Arrives
Amazon introduces its first colored e-book reader, the Kindle Colorsoft. This device brings color to the Kindle experience, priced at around 260 euros, with a discounted offer during Amazon Prime Days.
The Kindle Colorsoft boasts a 7-inch matte display with a resolution of 150 pixels per inch for colored content and 300 pixels per inch for black and white. This results in clear, though not exceptionally sharp, colored images.
The device is waterproof, rated IPX8, and comes with 16 gigabytes of storage. A more expensive Signature Edition offers 32 gigabytes and wireless charging. It features a simple user interface, granting access to the library, Amazon's offers, Kindle Unlimited, and Prime Reading.
Amazon has included a text-to-speech function, allowing users to navigate through comic panels. However, transitions are not as smooth as on smartphones or tablets. The device has a plastic housing with a USB-C port for charging and a power button on the bottom, bearing the company logo on the back.
The Kindle Colorsoft marks Amazon's entry into colored e-book reading. While it offers clear color display and waterproofing, it may not match the sharpness or smoothness of color transitions found on tablets. Priced competitively with a discounted offer during Amazon Prime Days, it's an appealing option for color enthusiasts.
