Amazon Introduces Same-Day Delivery for Pacsun, GNC, and Other merchant outlets
Amazon broadens its Prime benefits and services to include same-day delivery for customers of Pacsun, GNC, SuperDry, and Diesel, the e-commerce giant announced on Monday. In the coming months, Sur La Table and 100% Pure will also be added to this list.
The service is currently available in select zip codes across more than 10 metropolitan areas, including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas, Miami, Phoenix, and Seattle, as well as Scottsdale, Arizona, and Washington, D.C. Expansion to additional locations is planned for the near future, as per a company blog post.
This option applies to select items and is free for Prime members with a minimum spend of $25; orders below $25 will incur a fee of $2.99. Some stores will offer in-store pickup, Amazon noted.
Amazon seems to see potential in stores run by other retailers, despite ceasing operations at almost all of its specialty or mall-based stores earlier this year – leaving only its grocery stores, convenience stores, and an apparel store operational.
By offering Amazon customers "greater selection, at faster speeds," Sarah Mathew, director of Amazon Delivery Experience, said in a statement, the expansion of Amazon's same-day delivery service to other brands demonstrates the company's interest in speedy, last-mile delivery.
This latest partnership with Pacsun, GNC, and others signifies Amazon's evolution from a traditional retailer to a provider of services, including cloud computing, fulfillment, and other logistics, and advertising. In its most recent quarter, Amazon saw revenue growth in those areas, while its online retail sales fell for the second consecutive quarter.
Amazon has previously partnered with other retailers' brick-and-mortar stores. For instance, Kohl's has accepted Amazon returns at all of its physical stores since a few years ago, claiming it helps drive foot traffic.
Brands approach these partnerships differently, some preferring to maintain control over their marketing, data, and merchandising, while others view Amazon as a means to connect with its expansive customer base. For Pacsun, which already runs an online storefront on Amazon, the new Prime delivery option serves as another way for customers to access the styles they desire promptly.
- The technology-driven business evolution continues, as Amazon expands its same-day delivery service to include brands like Pacsun, GNC, and more, indicating a shift from traditional retail to service provider, encompassing not only cloud computing and fulfillment but also advertising.
- As Amazon extends its Prime benefits to stores in various industries, such as retail and finance, the focus on speedy, last-mile delivery underscores the company's increasing interest in the logistics industry.
- Similarly, technology and finance industries are not immune to the impact of these collaborations, as Amazon's strategy in these areas has demonstrated significant revenue growth while observing a decline in online retail sales in recent quarters.
