Amazon enlarges the Kindle Colorsoft lineup by introducing a more budget-friendly model

Amazon has expanded its Kindle Colorsoft range with the introduction of two new models. The Kindle Colorsoft 16GB and the Kindle Colorsoft for Kids are now available to order from Amazon, with US, European, and Australian prices to follow.

Kindle Colorsoft 16GB: A More Affordable Option

The Kindle Colorsoft 16GB is similar to the Signature Edition but with half the storage, a few features removed, and a lower price. It comes with a 7-inch E Ink Kaleido 3 color e-paper display, offering a resolution of 1264x1680 (300 PPI black & white, 150 PPI color). The device is powered by a dual-core 2GHz MediaTek processor and 1GB RAM, providing a smooth reading experience.

One notable difference is the absence of wireless charging and an auto-adjusting front light, features that are present in the Signature Edition. However, the Kindle Colorsoft 16GB offers a manually adjustable warm light for reading in the dark. It also comes with three months of Kindle Unlimited, making it an attractive option for avid readers.

The Kindle Colorsoft 16GB is priced at £239.99, making it a more affordable choice compared to the Signature Edition, which retails at £269.99.

Kindle Colorsoft for Kids: A Colorful and Durable Reading Experience

The Kindle Colorsoft for Kids has been added to the Kindle lineup, offering a vibrant and durable reading experience for children. It features a 7-inch full-color display with a resolution of 150 ppi in color mode and 300 ppi in black and white. The device is waterproof, with an IPX8 rating, ensuring it can withstand accidental spills and splashes.

The Kindle Colorsoft for Kids comes with a year's worth of Amazon Kids+, providing access to a vast library of kid-friendly books, educational content, and age-appropriate apps. It also includes features such as Vocabulary Builder, Word Wise, OpenDyslexic font, and Bluetooth connectivity for audiobooks.

The Kindle Colorsoft for Kids is priced at £259.99. It comes with a choice of two vibrant covers - Fantasy River or Starlight Reading - adding a touch of personality to the device.

In summary, the Kindle Colorsoft 16GB offers a more affordable entry point into the world of full-color Kindles, while the Kindle Colorsoft for Kids provides a durable, waterproof, and kid-friendly reading experience. Both devices share the same high-quality color display and reading experience enhancements, making them excellent choices for readers seeking an immersive reading experience.
