Adobe Flash Emergency Update Fixes Serious Vulnerability
Adobe has released an unexpected update for Adobe Flash, addressing a serious vulnerability (CVE-2014-8439). The company acknowledges the work of three security researchers in discovering and mitigating the issue.
The update, released on November 18 as APSB14-26, is an out-of-band update, indicating the severity of the vulnerability. It affects all versions of Adobe Flash, including those in Internet Explorer 10 and 11, and Google Chrome, which will automatically update.
Users of other browsers must manually run the update. Adobe provides a free tool, BrowserCheck, to help users assess the security status of their desktops and laptops.
