Adendorf Kindergarten Gets 2M Euro Boost for Climate-Friendly Renovation

Adolph-Holm Kindergarten in Adendorf has received a significant boost for climate-friendly renovations. The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) has approved 2 million euros from its 90 million euro funding for climate protection and energy efficiency measures in public institutions.

The kindergarten, which houses three full-day groups, one integration group, and two part-day groups, was previously affected by major water damage in 2024 and had a heating system reliant on fossil fuels. The renovation project, 'KiSs - Climate Protection in the Lower Saxony Social Economy', aims to install a heat pump and a photovoltaic system, reducing fossil energy consumption by 89% and saving around 11 tons of CO2 annually.

So far, projects with a total volume of 34 million euros have been approved, with a further 24 million euros available for approval. The funding comes from the directive 'Climate Protection and Energy Efficiency' and is administered by NBank, offering subsidies to interested parties for more climate protection.

The 2 million euro funding from the BMUV will enable the kindergarten to significantly improve its energy efficiency and reduce its carbon footprint. The project aligns with the federal government's commitment to support climate change mitigation and energy efficiency measures in public institutions.
